Madison Civic Center
The Madison Civic Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for citizens to use to walk in this winter.
Ashford-Nellis-Ridgeview Neighborhood Watch
The next meeting for the Ashford-Nellis-Ridgeview Neighborhood Watch will be Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Nellis Archives Building.
Sunday dinner with Santa Claus
There will be a Sunday dinner with Santa Claus, sponsored by the Boone County Fair, on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at Scott High School Cafeteria. Adults $6 and children $3.50, which includes spaghetti, roll, pop, and dessert. Also pictures with Santa will be available for child or family just $5. There will also be free kids crafts.
Housing Authority to meet
The quarterly meeting of the Boone County Housing and Redevelopment Authority will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Black Diamond Arbors in Danville.
2012 Photo Fund Drive
A 2012 Photo Fund Drive Christmas Shoot will be held at the Racine Volunteer Fire Department with all proceeds going towards firefighting and rescue equipment. Portraits will be taken at the Racine Fire Station on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from noon to 4 p.m. A complimentary 8x10 family portrait with a $10 donation. Walk-ins are always welcome and no appointment is needed.
Boone County PSD meeting
The Boone County Public Service District (PSD) will hold its regular monthly Water and Wastewater meeting on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at the Board office. If you wish to be on the agenda, please call the Board office at 304-369-2622. The Water Board meeting will open at 6 p.m., prevailing time, followed by the Wastewater meeting at its Board office in room 101 of the Danville Community Center, Hopkins Avenue, Danville, West Virginia for the following purposes: 1) Water Agenda: Approval of Invoices and Line Extensions. 2) Wastewater Agenda: Approval of Invoices and District Operations.
Boone County Schools will offer free three to five year old vision, hearing and speech/language screenings on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 for Boone County children. Please call 304-369-8267 to schedule an appointment.
Dignity Hospice will sponsor a volunteer workshop at the Chapmanville office on Nov. 30, Dec. 14, Jan. 20, and Feb. 24 at noon. For information or questions, call 304-855-4764.
Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch
Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch will have their meeting and Christmas Party on Thursday, December 20, at 7 p.m. There will be lots of goodies and door prizes, and also honored guests.
The Boone Co. Assn. Retired School Employees (BCARSE) will meet on Dec. 19 at Park Ave. Restuarant at 10 a.m. The program will be a celebration of the Christmas season. Dan and Jenny Light will present the musical program. All members plan to attend this time of food, fellowship and sharing of musical talent. Jeanine Castle will present the devotional.
Nellis Neighborhood Watch meeting
Two English guys, missing their sport are interested in starting an adult soccer league. This is going to be for fun and exercise, therefore previous experience is not a requirement. Madison VFW Post 5578 is building a Veteran’s Memorial to honor mothers of veterans and veterans. Purchase a brick for $50. Tops (Take off pounds sensibly) meets every Thursday at the Fountain of Life Worship Center, Rock Creek. The entrance is on the left side of the building. Weigh in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Tops is a nonprofit weight loss support group open to men, women and children seven years or older. There is a yearly membership fee. Games and incentives are used weekly to motivate weight loss.
New Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting
