The Mountaineer Food Bank serves 48 counties in West Virginia, including Boone County, providing food to several hunger relief locations in this area. Through its network of over 600 feeding programs throughout the state, Mountaineer Food Bank distributed over 8.4 millions pounds of food in 2012. Food donations are received from both local and national donors such as Kellogg, Nabisco, General Mills, etc. and from orchards, food processors, retail stores, and individuals. These are some of the specifics of the Mountaineer Food Bank explained by Chad Morrison, right, on a recent visit to the Madison Rotary Club. The organization also operates a mobile pantry program that visits areas that are underserved in the 48-county area, delivering fresh, perishable foods. For more information about the organization, visit www.mountaineerfoodbank.org or call 304-364-5518. Morrison was introduced by Rotarian Bob Foster, left.
