Sermon series at Madison Baptist Church addresses life struggles

Pastor Jim Butcher will be beginning the sermon series “Where Is God When Your World Is Falling Apart?” at Madison Baptist Church. The service begins at 11 a.m. This series will address some of the biggest questions people have when they’re going through pain and struggles.

The five planned sermons for this sermon series are:

-9/15—“I Don’t Know Which Way to Go – Why Doesn’t God Give Me a Sign?”

-9/22—“Why Doesn’t God Just Take Away My Pain?”

-9/29—“How Can I Know If God Cares About My Pain?”

-10/6—“What’s Lost If I Give Up On God In The Midst Of My Struggle?”

Gordon Union Church

On Sept. 22, 2013 the Gordon Union Church will be celebrating “Homecoming”.

Pastor David Cook from The Morrisville Missionary Baptist Church will be bring the message. He and his wife Angela reside in Bob White. “Change of Heart” will be blessing us with their singing.

Homecoming will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a covered dish dinner to follow.

Toney’s Branch Freewill Baptist Church Revival

There will be a revival starting Sept. 16, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Toney’s Branch Freewill Baptist Church, ¼ mile up Toney’s Branch.

There will be special singing each evening and preaching by Dennis Esstes. Pastor Robert Perdue, Jr., welcomes everyone to attend the revival services.

Camp Creek Gospel Tabernacle

Camp Creek Gospel Tabernacle will be having a 2 p.m. service Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013.

Brother Jeff Mostler will be preaching and everyone is welcome to attend the service.

West Fork Fellowship Revival

There will be a revival at West Fork Fellowship Sept. 11-14 starting at 7 p.m. each night. Join us for 7 incredible evenings of preaching, prayer and praise.

The Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church

The Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church at Turtle Creek is making preparations to celebrate the church’s annual Homecoming. The event will be Sunday, Sept. 15th at 11 o’clock at the Church. The church has enjoyed 189 years of being a servant for the Lord’s work and reaching out to the lost of the world.

As we celebrate this special occasion, we invite those that are interested and want to be a part of our celebration.

Chad Neal, Interim Pastor, will bring the morning sermon. Special music and plenty of home cooked food will complete the special day. Memorabilia will be on display for interested persons to inspect and enjoy. The ladies plan to fill the tables with their favorite recipes.

Ball Chapel

Ball Chapel will be having a benefit hot dog sale/yard sale on September 12th and 13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please come out and support a good cause.

Gospel Meeting

Uneeda Church of Christ is having a gospel meeting from Sept. 11-12, 2013, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Speakers will be Louis Watts on the morning of Sept. 8 and Joseph Watts in the evenings Sept.11-12.

Gospel Sing

There will be a gospel sing sponsored by Sylvester Freewill Baptist Church in honor of Hilda Perry’s 35 years on WOAY-TV at the Orgas Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m.

Singers will include Hilda Perry, Three Generations, Francis Family and The Gospel Connection. Everyone is welcome to attend this event.


Six Mile Methodist Church will be having their homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 15th at 11 a.m. Jeff Mosteller will be preaching and Debbie Shultz will be singing.

Pastor Roger McCauley welcomes everyone to come and attend this event.

Prayer Connection Lighthouse

Prayer Connection Lighthouse in Danville is accepting donations of clothing, canned goods, furniture and garden foods.

Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 159, Danville, WV 25053.

They also need volunteers from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Heart of God Soup Kitchen

The church’s “Heart of God Soup Kitchen” serves free hot meals Monday through Friday between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Due to health department regulations, no food can be carried out.

The Heart of God Soup Kitchen is in desperate need of donations and grocery items. They are needing dry goods, canned foods, meats, garden foods, and other grocery items to help feed those in need. Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 159, Danville, WV 25053.

The church or the kitchen does not give out cash or any other monetary assistance.

We would like to thank the community for all of its support and love. The soup kitchen feeds 1,448 hot meals.

The September dates for the Heart of God Soup Kitchen are Sept. 17-30, except weekends.

Greenview Church of Christ

McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church

The McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church Crisis Committee invites everyone to participate in our “Community Nursing Program.” The program takes place he third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCorkle FWB Church multipurpose room.

An RN will be available to the congregation of the church, community and surrounding communities to take your blood pressure, check your blood sugar, explain “the VIAL OF LIFE” (essential information to keep on hand), and explain Medical Power of Attorneys or Living Wills.
