DANVILLE — Frontier Communications has delivered its leading-edge broadband service to residences and businesses in the Danville area and upgraded service to scores of customers in the Van area, General Manager Zach Tomblin said.
“Frontier has invested heavily in the broadband infrastructure in Boone County, and we now are providing customers the speeds they want to support their households and businesses,” Tomblin said. “Our work is opening doors of opportunity in the southern coalfields.”
Tomblin said the service expansion in the Danville area was made possible through subsidies from the federal Connect America Fund (CAF). The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has said broadband service is necessary for citizens to seek full participation in the nation’s economy and society. To expand broadband service, the FCC transformed the telephone-focused Universal Service Fund (USF) into the CAF.
Tomblin said Frontier offers residential download speeds from 6 to 24 megabits per second (Mbps). Businesses may have access to service of up to 40 Mbps download and up to 10 Mbps upload – a level that supports video security and the transfer of large files. Frontier also offers businesses speeds up to 1 Gigabit through its Ethernet platform.
“Our investments in the Van area are providing community residents and businesses more broadband options and bandwidth,” Tomblin said. “We are eager for the community to know about this change in ou infrastructure.”
Tomblin encouraged residents to call 1-800-921-8101 toll free for information about service options. Residential customers ordering Frontier broadband for the first time can start at just $19.99 per month with a qualifyin phone service, he said.
The no-contract offer provides a two-year price guarantee for broadband service. Customers have an opportunity to bundle broadband service with telephone and television services and realiz substantial savings, he added. Business owners and managers can call 1-877-501-5661 toll free for information about acquiring business-class speeds and Frontier’s $19.99-per-month broadband promotion.
