Helping hungry kids In Boone County

The United Way is teaming with local Boone County supporters in a new program to feed hungry local kids this summer.

They will be packing boxes full of food (like canned pasta, soup, and peanut butter) and shipping them through the postal service three times this summer to kids in Boone County who are in difficult situations.

The “packing party” to assemble all these care packages will be Saturday, June 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Madison Baptist Church in Madison. Organizers encourage everyone who wants to participate to come out to help.

Those interested in helping can also assist by making financial donations. Checks can be sent to United Way Boone Backpack Program, c/o Carolyn Mullins, 306 Fourth St. W., Madison WV 25130.

Online donations can be made at (select “give” then “donate” then type “Boone Backpack Program”).
