Whitesville First Baptist Church

The Whitesville First Bapitst Church announces the Jimmy Brown Memorial Car & Bike Show.

It is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. and admission is free. There will be free food and door prizes. Trophies will be awarded at 6 p.m.

Receive a free dash plaque for being one of the first 25 cars in the show. Located on Back Street, across from the fire department.

This is a church event given by First Baptist Church of Whitesville and Jimmy Brown’s family. Jimmy was a deacon in the church until his death. He began the car show before his death, so we keep it going in his memory.

Ball Chapel Community Church

The Ball Chapel Community Church Women’s Ministry will be hosting a Flea Market on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The event will run from 9am – 4pm, with setup beginning at 8 a.m.

Limited tables are still available. Inside tables are $15 and outside tables are $10.

Anyone wishing to bring their own table can rent a space outside for $5. Concessions and hot dogs will also be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mahone Chapel United Methodist Church

Mahone Chapel United Methodist Church of Ashford will hold its Annual Homecoming on Sunday, August 16. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. with Worship Service following at 11 a.m.

The church choir will provide music, and Pastor David Kinder will deliver the sermon.

Members and guests will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 12:30 p.m. for lunch. Following lunch, a musical program will be presented in the sanctuary by Change of Heart of Logan.

Pastor Kinder extends a warm welcome to everyone to attend this special service.

The Grace Riders Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists

The Grace Riders Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association will be conducting their August meeting on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at 10 a.m., at Mountain State Harley-Davidson (formerly Mike’s Harley-Davidson) located on US 1 19 in Delbarton. A group ride will follow, with a stop for food along the route.

The Grace Riders Chapter is pleased to announce they will start conducting a second meeting each month in the Danville/Madison area! Watch and listen for more information.

Heart of God Soup Kitchen

Heart of God Soup Kitchen is operating a soup kitchen on the last weekdays of the month, providing free USDA food to those who qualify.

They are located at 44 Millier Street in Danville in accordance with federal and USDA policy, which strictly prohibits discrimination in all of its programs.

Prayer Connection Lighthouse

Prayer Connection Lighthouse in Danville is accepting donations of clothing, canned goods, furniture and garden foods.

Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 159, Danville, WV 25053.

They also need volunteers from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
