The “Nightmare on Main Street” in Whitesville haunted house is located beside the former Richard Brown Insurance Agency in Whitesville.
Three floors of fright await you.
It will be open Oct. 9-10; Oct. 16-17; Oct. 23-24; and Oct. 30-31 at 7 p.m. each night.
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
The Madison Civic Center will be open for indoor walkers, Monday thru Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please stop by Madison City Hall to sign in before walking.

The Boone County Public Service District will hold its regular monthly Water and Wastewater meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at the Board office.

Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch
The Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch will meet Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Foster Community Center.
Speaker for this month will be Rodney Miller, Executive Director of West Virginia Sheriff Association.

Masquerade mystery dinner
Join the Madison-Danville Jaycees on Oct. 17 at the Madison Civic Center for a masquerade themed murder mystery dinner. The event will run 6 to 9 p.m., is family friendly, and will have raffles, costume contests, and more.
Tickets are $15 per adult, $25 per couple, and $5 for kids.

VFW looking for veterans
The Daniel Boone VFW and Aux are looking for Veterans that have served our country. We would like to make a history book about our Veterans. Questions like name, branch of service, rank, where you served and when you served should be answered. Other memories that you might want to share about your time in the service and what advice for us.

Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Essay contest
The Voice of Democracy is a written and audio contest open to students in grade 9-12. This contest is a 3 to 5 minute audio/written contest. The top scholarship being $30,000. Essays with forms and audio are due Nov. 1, 2015.

The Patriot’s Pen is a 300 to 400 type written essay. Forms are available to students in grades 6 to 8.

Looking for Gold Star families
The Daniel Boone VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary are looking for families in Boone County that have loved ones in the recent conflicts. We know that there is one. Just wanted to find out if there are more that we don’t know about. They are called Gold Star families.

Secret Santa applications are currently being accepted at the Boone County Community Organization office located at 347 Kenmore Drive, Lick Creek Road (behind the Health Departnent).
If you receive any amount of SNAP benefits you automatically qualify for Secret Santa for children 12 and under. Bring your SNAP card and SS# numbers for everyone in the household. If you do not receive SNAP benefits bring proof of monthly household income and a formulary will be used to see if you qualify.
The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. No applications will be accepted after this date.
