Each year at this time I not only get excited for fall as many of you may have guessed while reading last week’s column.
I also get excited knowing that the West Virginia Book Festival is coming to Charleston.
In my opinion cooler weather, a hot cup of coffee, a blanket and a good book make for a great fall day.
I am that person who LOVES books!
I love new books and old books it does not make a difference to me.
I am the kind of book nerd that loves the smell of books. And I am not ashamed to admit this bit of information about myself.
Laugh if you must, but I am still going to take a deep breath and take in the aroma of books.
When it comes to books I collect them like people have collected Beanie Babies. The books are everywhere.
They are in bookshelves. They are in boxes. They are in stacks because there is no other place to put them.
However, not going to the West Virginia Book Festival is not an option.
There are vendors, authors and of course books for sale. How could I pass up all of that?
My husband often asks me when I am going to read all the books we have accumulated in our house.
I always respond with, “One of these days.”
I believe my crazy obsession with books stems back to my paternal grandmother. I don’t think book collecting and reading is a hereditary thing, but one never knows.
The woman had an unknown amount of books.
From what I have been told she read all of them. And that is exactly what I am going to do, “One of these days.”
To all of my fellow bookworms out there, Happy Reading!
