I know there are a lot of people who make a big to do about Valentine’s Day with flowers, candy, dinner, a card and much more. I for one am not one of them.
My husband and I have been together for what seems like forever and I cannot remember a Valentine’s Day where we have ever made a big deal out of it.
I ask for a few simple things on Valentine’s Day and I have every year we have been together.
I ask that we spend time together on February 14 and we put thought into buying each other a card.
As I write this I am guilty of not having him a card yet. I still have a few days, right? But as far as I know he is guilty of not having me a card yet as well. At least we are behind on this simple task together this year.
Simple I know, but as I have said in past articles it is the simple things in life.
Even though Valentine’s Day is only one day a year, I believe we should celebrate the one we love every day. A post it note on the coffee pot (my husband and I LOVE coffee) saying “I Love You,” taking out the trash or folding some laundry.
I am practical. To me nothing says I Love You more than clean dishes and an empty sink.
These small simple gestures are the ones we will remember for years to come.
I hope each of you enjoy Valentine’s Day in your own way with the one you love.
