MADISON — An Orgas, W.Va. resident was arrested recently on charges he engaged in sexual contact with a minor.
Deputy Cottrell, with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD), reportedly arrested, Eddie Wayne Carpenter, 30, of Orgas Jan. 5 and booked him at the sheriff’s office.
A warrant for Carpenter’s arrest had been issued in Boone County Family Court.
Corporal Foster, with the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Division of the BCSD, had reportedly been investigating Carpenter in reference to having inappropriate contact with a fourteen year old female.
During quesitoning, Carpenter allegedly confessed to having sexual contact with the minor.
Based on his confession, Foster reports he was able to develop enough probable cause to arrest Carpenter on the felony charge of third degree sexual assault.
If he is found guilty, Carpenter could be forced to spend between one and five years in a state correctional facility and pay up to $10,000 in fines.
Boone County Sheriff Randall White noted, ”This case is a great example of our patrol deputies sharing proper information with our detectives to get swift results. These are cases we take very seriously and that’s why we have a full time detective dedicated in this field of work.”
