MADISON — Each month, the Coal Valley News highlights the service of law enforcement by featuring an officer of the month.
Deputy James “Jay” Fankhouser, with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, has been selected by his superiors as the January 2016 Coal Valley News Officer of the Month.
Fankhouser has been with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department for nearly three years and has served the community with distinction.
In a statement to Coal Valley News, Chief Deputy Chad Barker, with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, explained “[Fankhouser] is one of our bright young Deputies and maintains a high level of activity.”
Fankhouser has also served the sheriff’s office as a school resource officer.
During an interview with the Coal Valley News, Fankhouser noted, “I like to stay active as much as possible. I get a lot traffic arrests — whether its DUI or drugs.”
Boone County Sheriff Randall White commented, “I am very proud of Jay for the job he does as well as the level of dedication he has.”
