CONSOL Energy earns safety, reclamation awards

The Twin Branch operation received the prestigious Mountaineer Guardian safety award recognizing its employees for their work record in the course of 289,875 employee hours. During that time, the operation produced 2.211 million clean tons of coal.


CANONSBURG, Pa. — CONSOL Energy’s Twin Branch Surface Mine won safety and reclamation awards at the recently held West Virginia Coal Association 42nd annual symposium.

The Twin Branch operation received the prestigious Mountaineer Guardian safety award recognizing its employees for their work record in the course of 289,875 employee hours. During that time, the operation produced 2.211 million clean tons of coal.

Twin Branch also received a reclamation award recognizing its exemplary construction of a valley fill. The award recognized the significant accomplishments the company made in the area of environmental protection, enhancement and stream impact minimization in the design and operation of its surface coal mining complex in Mingo County, W. Va.

“Both of these awards are examples of our employees’ commitment to our core values of safety and compliance,” said CONSOL Energy Vice President of Central Appalachia Operations Brett Holbrook. “That continued focus on both safety and compliance remains fundamental in our approaches to all aspects of our business. I commend our Twin Branch employees for their achievements.”
