The Coal Valley News would like to introduce its new reporter, Heather Kinder.
Readers may have already noticed Kinder’s work in the paper, and the Boone County native noted she is prepared to dive into the county’s vast area to come up with stories which holistically represent the county.
Kinder explained she “I am excited to get out in the communities and hear everyone’s stories.”
Kinder graduated from Sherman High School in 1998. Kinder then went on to attend school at Marshall University where she wrote for the school paper, The Parthenon.
Kinder graduated from Marshall in 2010 with a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree with her emphasis in Criminal Justice, Journalism and English. Growing up she always knew she wanted to write and has always pursued her love and passion for writing.
In 2011 Kinder worked for the Coal Valley News as an Advertising Representative.
Kinder also worked as a library assistant at Nitro Public Library for over two years before coming back to the Coal Valley News.
When she is not out covering a story and writing for the paper she loves reading, photography, drinking coffee and hanging out with her husband and their dog.
Kinder hopes that one day she will be able to combine her love of reading and writing and have her own novel published.
She currently resides in Boone County with her husband and their “four-legged child”
Kinder added, “I am glad I have been given the opportunity to work for the Coal Valley News again.”
