The City of Madison recently declared the week of Thanksgiving as the 25th consecutive Christian Heritage Week in Madison.
Proclamations from West Virginia governors began with Gaston Caperton in 1992 and continued through Cecil Underwood, Bob Wise, Joe Manchin and Earl Ray Tomblin.
The proclamation notes 126 towns and villages in have declared Christian Heritage Week since 2001.
The proclamation adds, “Whereas local churches are encouraged to participate with relevant Sunday School lessons, patriotic song services, youth programs and prayer meetings. Now, therefore, let it be known that November 20-26, Thanksgiving weeks, is hereby proclaimed as Christian Heritage Week.”
