Nelly Adams, daughter of Butch and Sue Adams of Wharton, had her second “Night to Shine” February 10. She attended the ‘Night to Shine’ prom sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation in Scott Depot.
“Night to Shine”’ is a special prom held around the world, all on the same night, for people with special needs who might not otherwise be involved in this type of activity. The night began with dinner out at the Longhorn Steakhouse and then she proceeded to the ‘Church at the Depot’ in Scott Depot, one of several locations in West Virginia where the prom was going in full force.
Once there she was introduced to her “Buddy” Sara. Sara chaperoned Nelly for the night, taking her first to have her make-up done and her hair sprayed with glitter spray. She received her corsage and then was taken from the registration room to the ballroom (Teay’s Valley Christian School) in an eighteen passenger Hummer Limousine. When she arrived at the ballroom she walked the red-carpet to join more than 130 other guests and their buddies for a night of food, dancing, and fun. Each guest was crowned as Prom Queen or King and presented with tiaras and crowns.
After two hours of dancing, a balloon drop, and many laughs, Nelly was ready for a nap on the ride home. She enjoyed her special night and had this to say, “It was awesome, I really loved the long limousine and the dancing.”
