On Monday, August 10, volunteers from across Boone County gathered at Madison Baptist Church to label and deliver the last shipment of supplemental food to nearly 400 students throughout the county as part of the United Way of Central WV Backpack Buddy-Boone County 2015 summer food program. In addition, each student also will receive a box of hygiene items for a “fresh” start to the new school year.
Eligible students received three food deliveries over the summer and one hygiene shipment. Like most really successful programs, local volunteers made this program happen. Also, financial support from the Boone County Community Foundation, Cummins Foundation, The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, United away of Central WV, Madison Baptist Church, City of Madison, multiple other churches from around the county, local businesses, organizations, and individuals allowed for students from all over Boone County to be served. It’s also important to note that 100 percent of the donated funds to date will go to support students in Boone County.
Thank you, volunteers and supporters, for coming together to LIVE UNITED right here in Boone County.
