RACINE — Coal mine workers and their families, along with some political candidates and those already in office will gather at the 76th annual United Mine Workers of America Labor Day rally this Monday at John Slack Memorial Park in Racine.


The United Mine Workers will host its 76th Annual Labor Day Celebration in Racine on Monday featuring speakers, food, fun and entertainment.


Scheduled speakers will include United Mine Workers of America International President Cecil E. Roberts, W.Va. Secretary of State Natalie Tennant (D), Rep. Nick Rahall (D), W. Va. State Treasurer John Perdue (D), and other statewide and local elected officials and labor leaders.


The festivities will kick off at 11:30 a.m., and there will be a pig roast starting at noon. President Roberts will speak at 1:00 p.m., followed by Tennant and Rahall.


Entertainers throughout the day include Elaine Purkey, Abby Bolton and One Eyed Jack.
