MADISON — The Madison Volunteer Fire Department has been chosen as the winner of Premier Bank’s Community Improvement Award for the Boone Division. In announcing the winner, Premier Bank Division President Emma Byrnside said, “The Madison Volunteer Fire Department provides a vital service to our community in terms of fire protection, emergency response and community education. We’re pleased to present this $1,000 award to assist them in their mission.”
Consisting of over 27 members, the Madison Volunteer Fire Department was incorporated in 1907 and provides a wide range of services including structure and vehicle fire suppression, vehicle crash rescue, fire prevention and more. The organization will use the $1,000 award to purchase and distribute fire and smoke detectors, free of charge to residents of Madison and Boone County.
Numerous community organizations submitted applications for the award program, which were evaluated by a committee of Premier Bank Boone Division employees. The bank hopes to expand the program in 2014 to assist additional community service groups.
