MADISON – Scott High School senior Courtney Goodwin has signed a national letter of intent to run cross country at the University of Charleston.
Goodwin had a ceremony Friday afternoon inside the Boone County school’s media center with friends, relatives, coaches, teachers and administrators.
“It’s a great honor and very exciting to be able to run on a college level for the University of Charleston,” said Goodwin, who chose the Mountain East Conference school because of its athletic training program and its small class sizes. “I’m very happy to share this amazing opportunity with my family and friends.”
Goodwin crossed the finish line in 23 minutes, 15.34 seconds – good for 58th place – at the Class AA-A state meet in 2013. She helped the Skyhawks finish eighth in the team standings.
