Join the Boone Madison Public Library on Saturday, October 12 at noon as we welcome Betsy Evelyn Slone Summers, author of Daughter of Appalachia. During her hour-long talk, Betsy will share warm, funny, and memorable stories about post-WWII life: catching crawdads, raising hogs, canning applebutter, and collecting Linn honey, while she takes us back to a time when telephones were brand new and television was a novelty. Betsy is a graduate of Van High, where she was head majorette, and the University of Charleston. She is the daughter of coal miner Nolan Slone and his wife Bonnie, granddaughter of Betsy and T. C. Jarrell, and Evelyn Slone. Light refreshments will be served.
