UBB MEMORIAL RECEIVES SECOND LARGEST CONTRIBUTION TO DATE
by FRED PACE, EDITOR
WHITESVILLE -- The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group received the second largest corporate contribution to date for the UBB Miners Memorial in a ceremony at the memorial site. John Mosolgo and Calvin Kidd, strategic alliance managers for Joy Mining Machinery, presented Sheila Combs, president of the memorial group, with a check for $35,000. "We are pleased to be able to support the UBB Miners Memorial," said Keith Richardson, Director of Sales and Service with Joy Global Incorporated. "The memorial will allow present and future generations to remember these dedicated miners." Joy Mining Machinery, based in Warrendale PA, has over 90 years experience as a global leader in the development, manufacture, distribution, and service of underground mining machinery for the extraction of coal and other bedded materials. "The memorial group would like to thank Joy Mining Machinery for their generous contribution to the UBB Miners Memorial project. Joy Mining Machinery is one of the most recognizable and respected names in the coal industry and we are thrilled to have them on board with the project," said memorial group president, Sheila Combs. The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group was founded in 2011 to raise money to build a permanent memorial to the victims of the Upper Big Branch Coal Mine explosion that occurred in April of 2010. The memorial and surrounding plaza, designed by Rob Dinsmore of the Chapman Technical Group, is currently under construction in Whitesville.
