Duty named ‘Grand Marshal’ for 2013 WV Coal Festival

MADISON -- The West Virginia Coal Festival Planning Committee has selected Fred Duty of Ramage as the 2013 West Virginia Coal Festival’s Grand Marshal. A life-time member of the VFW Post 5578 of Madison, Duty served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a medic and engineer with the United States Army. Duty worked for Armco Mining in Twilight for 34 years as an electrician, tipple foreman and mechanic. He retired in 1980. He is married to the former Doris Burton and has two daughters, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. At age 90, Duty is still very active with the VFW Post and in his community.
