DICKS CREEK ROAD -- A woman was hit by a car in Boone County early Thursday morning, June 28, 2012. It happened about 3:08 a.m. along Dicks Creek Road, off U.S. 119 (Corridor G), according to emergency dispatchers.
The woman was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center.
Officials did say that the woman was a resident of Kanawha County and was approximately 18 or 19 years old.
Officials have not released any additional information about the victim, her injuries, the driver of the car, or how the accident happened.
Officials did say that initial reports came in that a young woman was in the middle of the road and chasing after cars. When police arrived at the scene she had been hit by a car.
The road reopened after being closed for several hours following the incident.
No other details were released and authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
