Spruce No. 1 Mine permit revoked
On Tuesday, April 23, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had legal authority to retroactively revoke the Spruce No. 1 Mine permit. The court said the EPA could veto a water pollution permit, so it reversed a lower court’s ruling on the issue. The Spruce No. 1 Mine is located in Logan County and is one of West Virginia’s largest mountaintop removal coal mines....

DANVILLE – A Julian man died after his car crashed into the back of a tractor trailer, according to investigators with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
