Van High School hosted the Boone county teams of Sherman High School, Scott High school and Van High School Friday Dec. 4 2015.
Van and Sherman JV started off the night. Then it went to Scott and Sherman. JV. Then Scott vs Van.
In varsity matchups it was Sherman vs Van, Sherman vs Scott High and last Van vs Scott.
Members from each of the communities came out and supported their respective teams.
Tug Valley Board of referees officiated for free to support the Van High School Booster program.
All three teams are working out the pre season bugs before season starts next week.
“We came out and hit the first shot and then Scott duo Of Patrick Underwood and Tanner Bell started hitting the shots and getting a lot of boards. Similar thing happened with Van game,” Starting Sherman forward, Tyler Craig commented. “On previous teams I played on, we might have gave up. Not this group! We battled back and kept our heads. I was very proud of our composure. I think our coaches have prepared us very well for the battles we will face. In Sectionals we will be the best of them”.
Van HS standout and Center. Cole Price said,” I came out hit the opening shot against Scott and Sherman. Crowd went nuts. Then my team and I struggled things bit. We are happy to have Tyler Stewert helping with adjustments. I think we are going to keep getting better as season progresses. Coach Gogas and Price are doing heck of a job getting us ready for opener next week.”
Scott Sr. Guard, NIck Dolan added, ” We came out good. Both Tanner Bell and Patrick Underwood were hitting inside and out. rest of teams defense always keeps us in game even If we have tight moments of play. I think Coach Cable and his staff have prepared us very well for obstacles we may face this season. I am looking forward to representing my team to our community and they are pumped as well “
All three area teams are kicking off their season next week.
It should be an exciting year of basketball.
