The Sherman Tide defeated Wirt County on the road this past Friday night, September 23, by a score of 59 to 6.
The Tide is now 4–1 for the 2016 this season and continues to improve
Senior Bailey Kirk completed two passes for a total of 75 yards.
The Tide rushed with a total of 201 yards on 33 carries. Sophomore running back Tommy Harper led the team in rushing yards with a total of 48 yards on three carries.
Sherman senior Tyler Pettry had one reception for the night for 60 yards. Sophomore J. T. Hensley carried the ball for 15 yards.
Seth Rinchich, Tyler Pettry, Clay Hughes, Harper, Kirk and Hensley all scored touchdowns for Coach J.D. Fairchild’s Boone County squad.
The strong defense helped lead the Tide with a total of 64 tackles in their victory over Wirt County and only giving up one touchdown.
Sherman ended the night with a total of 276 passing and rushing yards on offense.
The Tide will meet up with Sheldon Clark, Kentucky in their homecoming game Friday, September 30 . Kickoff will be 7:30 p.m. and the homecoming parade will begin at 5:00 pm.
