FORT GAY, W.Va. – Coming off of their first win over Wayne in over a decade, Scott traveled to Tolsia to try and hang a loss on the surging Rebels but could not muster enough offense to counter their potent rushing attack in a 28-8 loss.
After the win over Wayne, Scott coach Shann Elkins knew that his team was facing a quality opponent in the No. 6 Class A Rebels.
Tolsia was the Class AA state runner-up last season, before dropping down to Class A this season after reclassification.
“Tolsia always fields a tough team,” he said. “We have to focus on our next opponent, each week. This week is no different.”
For the game, Scott’s only score came in the third quarter when Peyton Hassler hit pay dirt on 65-yard kickoff return after Rebel quarterback Logan Presley found the end zone on a 1-yard keeper. Presley then found Jordan Johnson open for the 2-point conversion in the third quarter. Scott (2-4) had less than 100 yards of total offense on the night while the Rebels (4-1) tallied 395,with the lion’s share coming via their ground game.
Scott will host No. 3 Mingo Central (7-0) on Friday in a Cardinal Conference Class AA contest.
