Junior Tide loses to Chapmanville

Sherman and Chapmanville players chase after the football as it bounces high in the air during last week’s middle school game in Chapmanville.


CHAPMANVILLE — Sherman’s Junior High football team lost its opening game to Chapmanville last week, 32-0, at Chapmanville.

The junior Tide team was lead by Eli Deboard with 32 yard rushing on 10 carries. Also contributing to the ground game was Jacob Sprouse with 20 yards on three carries and Chris Abbott with nine yards on three runs. Abbott, the Sherman quarterback, was also 3 of 4 passing for 5 yards.

Deboard and Ridge Anderson led the Sherman Tide defense with three tackles each. R.J. Cline had two tackles, while Robert Sperry and Carson Casto were credited with one-and-a-half tackles. Jacob Welch, Devin Myers, Alex Whitehead and Abbott each had one tackle in the game.
