He was born Jan. 22, 1918 to the late Clark and Lula Marie Cooper.
He was a veteran of World War II, a disabled coal miner with Eastern Associated Coal Company and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; son, Randall; daughter, Linda Diane, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by one son, Phillip Cooper, of Greenview; two daughters, Gail Beckett of Hurricane, Mashell Gallagher of Greenview; one brother, Cleve Cooper of Danville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Lane officiating.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, near Madison.
