On Saturday, July 19 the Boone chapter of the WVU Alumni and Friends Association held its 21st annual Golf Outing and Pig Roast. The event, held at the Riverview Country Club in Madison, is the organization’s largest fundraiser.

Both WVU Alumni Association President Steve Douglas and WVU Student Body President Jason Parsons were in attendance. Douglas said the Boone Chapter is an “anchor group” for the Association, and is proud of what they’re doing for county grads.

“This group of [alumni] from Boone County has helped so many kids that wanted to go up to WVU over these 20 years, that’s what we’re proud of,” Douglas said.

Money raised at the event goes to fund academic scholarships given annually to Boone County graduates attending WVU or WVU Tech. Any WVU student from Boone or Lincoln County attending the pig roast received a $50 voucher for the campus bookstore.
