Some of Boone County’s best 8th grade Social Studies students attended the “Youth in Government” program in Charleston recently. They visited the Federal Building, the Capitol and Night Court in Charleston. This three-day seminar allowed these students to meet other like-minded students from around the state and get an up close look at the inner workings of federal, state and county government. From Madison Middle School there was teacher Bobby Miller, and students Kensley Ball, Willie Kimler, Jonathan Malcomb, Garrett Napier and Landen Napier. From Sherman Jr. High there was teacher Paula Meadows, and students Logan Buzzard, Rebecca Rutherford, Amelia Sebok and Luke Skeens. From Van Jr. High there was teacher Joey Lares, and students Logan Croise, Balyee Farmer and Emma Martin.
