Hello all. As we welcome December, what great weather we are having. We couldn’t ask for a better day for the annual Christmas parades in the area that took place over the weekend.

Sherman High School will be honoring student athletes and hosting the Fall Sports Banquet on Thursday December 6, 2012. Parents and guardians should have received an invitation with instructions on how to purchase tickets. The athletes were allowed to invite 2 guests to purchase a ticket.

Congratulations to Mackenzie Smith a Senior at Sherman High School for making Special Honorable Mention on the Single A All State Team.

The Christmas Candle Lighting at Pineview Cemetery took place on Saturday December 1, 2012 after the Whitesville Parade. The weather was perfect. We were so fortunate not to have the freezing temperatures and snow that we have had while doing this in the past. I hope you had time to stop by and take it in. It is a beautiful thing to see. I am so glad that the caretakers of Pineview have continued to do this for our loved ones that are buried there. I know it takes a lot of time and planning. Please know that it is appreciated by many.

The winner of the 250.00 gas card that was raffled off by the Sherman High School Softball Team was Debbie Halstead of Racine. Congratulations Debbie! The drawing was held on November 30, 2012. The team and coaches want to thank everyone for their support. They will continue to do fundraising for the next few months, hoping to raise enough money to play in the Grand Strand Classic Tournament in April.

The Senior class at Sherman High School is still selling bricks to put around the ship in the courtyard. The bricks can be personalized and can include art. Please contact the school at 304-837-3301 if you would like to purchase one.

Please keep Debbie Gray of Comfort in your thoughts and prayers this week. Debbie will be going for some follow up treatment on December 7th. Pray that all goes well.

Do you recognize anyone in the pictures? Gene Simmons of Kiss and Wolfe from Teen Age Werewolf stopped by a pep rally at Sherman High School recently. I have to say they had a striking resemblance to Mr. Cable and Mr. McGee.

Until next time, remember if something good happens on the Big Coal, Share it so we all will know. I look forward to hearing from you. You can call me at 304-854-2113 or email me at 3wvufans@suddenlink.net. God Bless You.
