MTV announced last week a second season pick-up of its hit new series “BUCKWILD.” The half-hour, 12-episode series follows a group of nine young, carefree and adventurous friends living in West Virginia, who find unique ways to create their own fun. Since the series premiere last month, “BUCKWILD” ranks as #1 rated original cable series of Thursday nights among viewers age 12-34, while pulling in an average of 3 million total viewers per episode (Live +3).

Additionally, MTV has two of the top three rated cable series of the first quarter of 2013 among P12-34, with “Catfish: The TV Show” as #2 and “BUCKWILD” as #3.*

Meanwhile, A cast member of the MTV reality show “Buckwild” is facing a drug charge in West Virginia, according to previously published reports from the Associated Press and other media outlets.

Twenty-four-year-old Salwa Amin is being held at a jail in central West Virginia on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver.

Records show Amin was booked into the jail early Monday. Details of her arrest weren’t immediately available.

Jail administrative Sgt. Rick Drake says Amin doesn’t want to talk to the news media. He didn’t know whether she had a lawyer.

MTV announced last week that the show will be picked up for a second season. A spokesman and a spokeswoman for MTV didn’t immediately return telephone messages Monday.

“Buckwild” shows wild young West Virginians and has drawn criticism for what some see as a negative portrayal of the state’s youth.

For more information, viewers can go to MTV.com for sneak peeks of the show including bonus and extended scenes, plus exclusive interviews. Fans can also “like” the “BUCKWILD” Facebook page, follow the cast on Twitter and use the hashtag #BUCKWILD.
