To the Great People of Boone County,
March 30, 2013, I will be boarding an aircraft and going off to do my duty as an Air National Guardsman. I cannot go into many details, but I will tell you that I will be at a military installation and fulfilling a requirement. It is an incredible honor to serve the people of Boone County and West Virginia not only as a legislator, but as a member of the military as well.
Since the beginning of the legislature I have sponsored or co-sponsored over 75 pieces of legislation or resolutions. Fitting for our people has been one of the greatest experiences. I assure you that I fully intend to continue to do just that.
I have fought for your gun rights, fought for the coal industry, fought for small business, sent resolutions in claiming “one nation under God” is still in our pledge, fought extreme environmentalism while still protecting West Virginia, I signed a statement in support of our Patriot Coal retires and miners as well as a co-sponsored a resolution in support of our people affected, fought to increase the homestead tax exemption, a COLA increase for retires, and many, many more.
We have much more work to do to drive West Virginia to where it needs to be, but we are making some progress. During my time aware for the military I will miss my 5th wedding anniversary, my son’s second birthday, and more…but I can assure you that I am very honored to serve this country.
I cannot wait to get back home to Boone County in May…and I will be ready to go back at it as soon as my boots hit the ground.
Again, I am very honored to serve you, and I will see you in May. God bless your and yours, God bless America, and God bless the great state of West Virginia.
Montani Semper Liberi,
House of Delegates Representative Joshua Nelson (R-Boone)
