Miss Caraline Griffith, daughter of Jon and Melinda Griffith of Drawdy, WV, granddaughter of Shelia and Carney Griffith of Drawdy, WV, and Harold and Emogene Eplin of Ashford, WV, graduated from West Virginia University on May 18, 2013 with bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a Minor in Leadership Studies. As a student at WVU she participated in numerous academic projects including: the NASA Sounding Rocket Program in 2010-2011, the Design/Build/Fly team in 2011-2012, and the Formula SAE Team in 2012-2013. She was a teaching assistant for Advanced Mechatronics and was treasurer for the Residence Hall Association, over which she managed $50,000 for the university. She is continuing her education by being accepted to the Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering at West Virginia University and starting research this summer in Neural Engineering, during which she will construct a computer simulated model of the body for research into gaining mobility for stroke victims.
