I think one of the most
important things that we as
parents can teach our children is the importance of values.
If we don’t have values and we don’t do what’s right, we are failing our children. It isn't always easy to do what’s right.
We have those who think that rules don’t apply to them. More often than not, they get away with it. It’s hard to teach our children to stand up for themselves and to be strong in their beliefs when you have others doing the exact opposite.
If we don’t have values and don’t stand up for what’s right, then we really aren’t as good as we want others to believe. We have to realize that we as parents have to be held accountable for what happens in our children’s lives. I think the following quote is perfect for this.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to
displease the people by doing what you know is right than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.”
-- William J.H. Boetcker
